Mit dem Ranger 2212 lassen sich über CATx Kabel USB 2.0 Daten, mit der vollen Datenrate von 480MBits, bis zu einer Distanz von 100m übertragen. Das Gerät ist mit einem 2port-Hub ausgestattet. Die Stromversorgung erfolgt über die Local Unit. Diese versorgt die Remote Unit über CATx, wodurch dort keine Stromversorgung notwendig ist. Jeder Port der Remote Unit kann bis zu 500mA zur Versorgung angeschlossener Geräte bereitsstellen.
